About Me

The best way to get to know me is to listen to my podcast appearances. I am all about transparency, authenticity and sharing my story. I kind of feel like I only had this wild ride of a life so far so that I can share it and help bring some more clarity to our hazy world.

18Forty: Chava Green- What is Chabad’s Feminist Vision

This podcast put me on the map (well, the tiny Orthodox Jewish map, but it’s something!). This is the most philosophical introduction to how my life experiences shape my theological and sociological account of womanhood.

Plus a follow-up essay: How and Why I became a Hasidic Feminist.

Chabad.org: The Long Road to Chassidic Feminism

On Chabad.org’s series, Ordinary People, Extraordinary Stories, I go in-depth about my upbringing and my search for home as well as some clear ideas about my philosophy on gender.

Human and Holy: Home as the Center of the World

This episode is a bit of a throw back to the early days of my PhD research. It is a deep dive into the centrality of home in Jewish life and practice. I make a strong argument here for the power of the woman to create home as an experience, not just a place.

My values

I am a Lubavitcher Hasid. My daily life and worldview is formed by the mission and teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, R. Menachem Mendel Schneerson. I believe the Rebbe meant for each of us to unearth our unique potential and channel G-d into the world using our particular talents and personality. I do this with my teaching, my friendship, my family relationships, my academic work and the intense inner work of transcending the self. (Still working on that last one. Like every day.)

On a Lighter Note

I love to bake. I am a huge skeptic, almost anything slightly political will send me into rants about how people are controlled by the media and entertainment is eroding our brain cells (but mostly just my husband gets to enjoy these outbursts). I love to thrift and I have a small side hustle as an Ebay reseller. I make just enough money to buy more clothes… I do watercoloring and collage when I am feeling artsy. Two of my grandparents were painters. I have a massive library of books that I actually have read. I have like six best friends and I love them all so much, but none of them really know each other!

I want so desperately for us to live in a reality where G-d is self-evident and we can all breathe a sigh of relief that it’s all ok.
